Did you know that 90% of Americans suffer from headaches?  Some headaches are dull and achy while others are throbbing and debilitating.  Headaches have a variety of causes.  Did you know that poor alignment of the neck bones may be causing your headache?  If you take advil to mask the pain of the headache you may be cheating yourself out of a correcting the cause.  If you are suffering a headache now or have had a migraine within the last 4 weeks do yourself a favor and get your spine checked.  Chiropractors are highly trained in spine techniques to remove misalignments in the neck that may be causing your headaches.  Headache research suggests this is a very effective option.

"A report released in 2001 by researchers at the Duke University Evidence-Based Practice Center in Durham, NC, found that spinal manipulation resulted in almost immediate improvement for those headaches that originate in the neck, and had significantly fewer side effects and longer-lasting relief of tension-type headache than a commonly prescribed medication."

Most take the quick and cheap "cure" of finding an over the counter drug to reduce pain.  According to Time magazine starting in Oct. of 2013 Tylenol will begin labeling the cap to warn consumers that it contains Acetaminophen due to increased pressure from the federal government and from increased lawsuits..  Acetaminophen is the number one cause of sudden liver failure in the United States.

According to WebMD, Floricet is one of the most prescribed drugs for headaches.  Floricet contains acetaminophen which is also in Tylenol.  Acetaminophen side effects that are most common include

  • dizziness or light-headedness (mild)
  • drowsiness (mild)
  • nausea, vomiting, or stomach pain (occurring without other symptoms of overdose)
  • Bloated or gassy feeling

You as the consumer always have a choice as to what treatment you chose.  Make the smart choice and invest in your health rather than continually covering symptoms.  When ingesting any prescription or over the counter drug there is always a risk.  Stay educated and stay safe.
